What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an alternative to traditional braces using clear plastic aligners. Rather than using a series of metal brackets that are attached to the teeth (that are then attached together via metal wires) as is common with regular braces, Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic aligners to accomplish much the same thing in a far easier and more comfortable way.
Every few weeks, a patient will swap out one set of aligners for another – thus gently moving their teeth into the desired position over time.

Your Teen Can Eat All Their Favorite Foods
By far, one of the major benefits of Invisalign for teens, in particular, is that there are virtually no dietary restrictions to speak of – meaning that they can continue to enjoy the foods that they’ve always loved without worry. Just be sure to make sure that your teen takes his or her aligners out of their mouth during a meal, brushes, and flosses afterward, and THEN puts them back in.

How Many Hours a Day Should My Teen Wear the Aligners?
For the absolute best results, your teen should wear his or her Invisalign aligners for as long as they can every day. Really, the only times they should be taking out the aligners at all are when they’re eating or drinking something that isn’t water. They can remove the aligners every so often by choice, but this should be kept to a bare minimum to avoid any unnecessary delays for the treatment’s completion.
Can My Teen Still Have an Active Lifestyle?
Absolutely! In fact, many teens, in particular, enjoy Invisalign® over traditional braces specifically because they don’t have to change their lifestyle in any appreciable way. As stated, if you’re going to continue to play sports, you should absolutely wear a mouth guard or some other form of protection just to be on the safe side.
How Much Does Invisalign Cost?
The answer to this question is a difficult one to answer, as it can vary wildly depending on the patient. Some types of dental issues simply take longer to correct than others, and any unfortunate delays (as rare as they might be) can definitely drive up the cost.
In a general sense, most people find Invisalign to work out to be just about the same cost as traditional braces. The total length of treatment is similar, too – approximately two years in most circumstances. But when you consider all of the benefits you get that traditional braces simply cannot match, the choice is clear for most people.
