Invisalign Express and short aligner treatment: who is it for?

Invisalign Express is one of Align Technology’s shorter treatment plans, with fewer aligners than full Invisalign treatment. It is designed for minor problems, such as slight crowding or small spaces, and for teeth that have shifted a little since earlier treatment. An orthodontic exam decides whether a short plan will actually do the job.

How is it different from full Invisalign treatment?

The aligners are the same. The difference is the number of aligners in the plan, which limits how much the teeth can move. Full treatment can correct bite problems and larger movements; a short plan is meant only for small changes to the front teeth.

Who might be a good fit?

  • Mild crowding or small gaps between the front teeth
  • Minor relapse: teeth that have moved a little after braces or aligners, often because retainers weren’t worn
  • Small touch-ups before an event, if the bite itself is healthy

Who it’s not for

A short plan can’t fix an overbite, underbite, crossbite or open bite, or move teeth a long way. Starting a short plan for a bigger problem can mean extra aligners later, or a result that doesn’t last. That’s why it matters that an orthodontist, not an app or a mail-order kit, checks your bite, X-rays and gums first.

Do I still need retainers?

Yes. Teeth tend to drift back after any treatment, short or long. Wearing retainers as directed is what keeps the result. If your teeth moved after earlier treatment, retainers are usually the reason, and the same will be true this time.

Behl Touch Up: our short Invisalign program

For adults with minor crowding, small gaps or teeth that have shifted since braces, we offer Behl Touch Up: a limited Invisalign® treatment planned and directed by a Behl orthodontist, with one package price and retainers included. Your orthodontist examines you in person first and tells you whether it suits your case.

How do I find out if I qualify?

Book a free consultation. We take photos and a 3D scan, check your bite and explain every option, including whether a shorter plan will work for you, with the full fee in writing before you decide.
